Family Bushcraft

There is no better way to connect than spending time outdoors and having fun as a family. This 5 day week long adventure is really fun family bushcraft activities all together.  More importantly, where the parents don’t have to organize all of it! If this sounds like a week you could enjoy then book your families spot. Places fill up quickly.

Five days of bushcraft and living in tents and the woods is great for all ages to disconnect from the chaos of general life. Also its’ a great time to connect with your kids and partners. When the stress and exhaustion of setting up, organizing and cooking are taken away from you. It is a lot easier to focus on what matters. Family!

Activities

Primarily, during the 5 days we will be making fires, making crafts and building shelters and sleeping in them! As a part of the crafting we will be making some utensils with our bushknifes so we can eat our dinner. We will also be making some bows and arrows or atlatl and dart to try and catch our dinner!! Then, head out foraging on nature walks through the woods to see what we can find. Maybe we will find some tracks, scat, maybe even some food for our dinner. Using a basket we make we can collect and bring the foraged foods back to camp to make our dinner.  If that isn’t enough we will jump in a Canoe and go for a paddle.

The grand finale on the last day we will introduce map and compass work on a small scale. An orienteering course is set up in the woods to run around and see which pair can find all of the check points and take home the prize!

This really is a great way to spend time as a family and in nature. This is where family stories and legends are made.

Meals and Accommodations

Each course is a maximum of 2 families, this allows for minimal distraction and time to acclimate for younger kids. The accommodations are in large canvas tents and each family has there own tent. There is a double bed or twin beds in each tent with enough space for many kids to sleep on the floor on sleeping matts. There is a full bathroom onsite which is also shared by the 2 families. For the 5 day family bushcraft we use the same tents for our glamping experience. Except for when we are in the woods for a few nights!!

All meals are arranged. Filling Breakfasts are catered to prepare you for a full day and keep things running smoothly. Lunch is a packed lunch style and is taken with you for activities. The evening meals will vary and are often cooked on the fire as a group. Group and adult assistance in meal prep and clean up are expected.  You will be pleased to hear that adults, you do get a break for one night as the kids prepare the meal, cook it and serve it.

Activities can depend on weather, and the ages within the group. Part of the reason we want to keep it small is that we can cater for the specific group and the conditions. For this reason, we ask that you can email us well in advance telling us about your groups ages, genders and dietary requirements.
