At Backwoods Bushcraft, we are committed to putting our people first. With COVID-19 officially listed as a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO), we wanted to take a moment to let you know the extraordinary and proactive steps we are taking to ensure your safety and our team’s safety.
We have implemented a number of guidelines that will help us reduce exposure to and transmission of Covid-19. We are lucky that many of our courses can be run outdoors in their entirety. We have also adapted some courses to run outdoors which have previously had an indoor component.
Courses and instructions
Courses will only take place when the provincial health allows for groups of 10 or more to gather outdoors. When they do take place all travel in vehicles will be done as part of your own bubble, if you come with family, or individually.
All participants being spread by a minimum of 6ft at all times outside. Instructors and participants are to wear two layered face masks whenever it is likely that closer interactions are required because of instruction limitations. Camping and overnight courses will require each participant to have their own tent or tarp, or be required to build their own shelter within their personal bubble.
All participants have the right to feel comfortable with all interactions between participants and staff. Anybody that feels threatened or encroached upon by anyone can openly talk to the instructor and the matter will be dealt with accordingly. If an instructor or participant makes a request for you or anyone else to put a mask on or step back you are expected to do so without complaint. If anyone does not follow these simple requests they may be asked to leave without a refund.
Participants Responsibilties
Each participant and instructor has their own view and experiences of this pandemic. Some people have been directly affected or know those that are. Some people maybe at higher risk than others and we have to respect that we don’t know everyone circumstances or situations. We ask that everyone is respectful and follow provincial guidelines regardless of your own personal viewpoints.
It is the resposibility of all participants to communicate any signs or symptoms of illness regardless of wether they believe it to be Covid-19. A register of all participants and all persons in contact with each group will be kept for 1 month post course. This is to ensure easy and speedy communication of any possible infection transmissions.
You are required to complete a medical form as a part of the course. You are also responsible to disclose any direct or indirect contact with anyone that has any flu like symptoms within the 2 week period prior to the start of the course. This might mean that you are not able to attend the course.
It is each persons responsibility to arrange for health and travel insurance to cover any cancellations, evacuations or costs incurred due to Covid-19 or for any other unforseen reason. This does inculde direct or indrirect contact prior to the course.
A waiver must be signed by all participants of all courses before they can participate.
